about 5" of jute for a hanger
one 1" Christmas shaped button
bit of stuffing
bit of raffia
powdered blush for his cheeks
1. Cut out all pattern pieces
2. Loop the crochet thread around a piece of cardboard that will give you loops about the size shown (10-30 loops depending on the weight of your thread). Tie off the loops in the center tightly. Set aside.
3. Tie off, in the center, two or three small strands of raffia. Trim them down to about 3" wide. Set aside.
4. Sew on the two sead bead eyes on to the front batting piece of his face.
5. Sew the hat onto the front of the face just above his eyes making sure not to cover them...just the one stitch across, as on the hat pattern.
6. Sew (on the front side of the fabric) the front face batting piece on to the back face all around as shown, making sure to leave the opening for stuffing. (Just sew right over the sides of the red hat at the same time). Clip the edges of the red hat and 'ruffle' them with your fingers.
7. Lightly stuff and close off the bottom opening.
8. Attach the jute hanger on the back/top. Attach the raffia & then the button on his hat. Attach his beard (at the tied center) under his eyes and trim down to the edge of his face if needed.
9. Lightly dob his cheeks with powdered blush.
